Romance is Dead

No, I'm a newlywed, so the romance isn't dead in my real life. In the book world, however, romance is not as important as it once was.
As many know, for years all I read and wrote was romance. Recently I started reading a romance and I just couldn't do it. I didn't make it far before I put it down. I felt like I was in mourning and I didn't know why.

It took a while but I finally realized that it wasn't my favorite genre anymore; that in fact, I had burned out on romance when I had 1000 percent emerged myself in it during the first five years of my indie career.
To be honest, I was devastated. Reading romance saw me through a lot of hard times. But I'm coming around. I'm having a great time reading genres I'd missed out on. Don't get me wrong, I still read some romance (Dark, Fantasy, Comedy, Thriller) as long as romance isn't the only thing in the plot. What's your favorite genre?
Until Next Time...
